Introduction to Computer Science

The introductory basic computer training course consists of 10 hours organized into five 2-hour sessions per week (10 hours/week). The course takes place over 1 week.

The computer science initiation program divided by:

Introduction to the computer environment:

  • Computer setup (screen, central processing unit, peripherals)

  • Using the keyboard and mouse

  • Turning a computer on, off, and restarting

Windows environment management (or equivalent):

  • Understanding the desktop, windows, and menus

  • Opening, closing, and using software

  • Basic workspace organization

File and folder management:

  • Create, save, rename and delete files

  • Create and organize folders

  • Understanding storage locations (computer, USB drive, cloud – basic concepts)

Introduction to common software:

  • Discovering a word processor

  • Simple text entry and document saving

Discovering the Internet and digital technologies:

  • Internet browsing

  • Using a web browser

  • Concepts of online research

  • Raising awareness of best practices and digital security

Teaching method and materials

The approach is progressive , practical , and individualized :

  • Guided computer exercises in small groups to promote personalized learning

  • Use of clear visual aids and interactive tutorials to facilitate understanding

  • Individual support at each session to meet the specific needs of each person.

Prerequisites:

No prerequisites are necessary.
